Through It All: A Promise.

I thought I would catch and release,
For the sake of my own peace,
All the things I want to seize.
Living in my head as if they’ve paid an endless lease.
I wish I could make them cease,
Just to find a moment of ease,
Amidst the trees and gushing streams.

Pessimistic thoughts pile up and tease,
Pulling me down like a relentless squeeze.
What are Your plans, God? Lead me the right way, please,
As the days continue to freeze.
Everything falls into place,
Though I feel like a shattered, missing puzzle piece.

So, let’s make a promise, even if it seems foolish,
To love ourselves in times both cruel and devilish.
To protect ourselves, no matter if we flourish or perish,
We are born pure and good—let’s believe and cherish.
And never let our dreams or hearts feel selfish.
Nothing will define us—not even a blemish.

The thoughts that tarnish,
The ones we wish to abolish,
Let’s cast them into shadows and watch them diminish,
As our spirits rise anew and replenish.
We will extinguish the anguish,
As our fears and doubts slowly vanish.

We will still listen to our voice, even if it sounds childish.
Through trials and errors, we will learn to distinguish.
No matter what, we will be classic and stylish,
With confidence, we’ll embellish and swish.
And through it all, let our inner child relish,
As we continue forward, we will accomplish,
An unbroken promise to grow and nourish.
